Yingshang County in Fuyang, East China’s Anhui Province, reported a confirmed case of COVID-19 on Tuesday, Fuyang authority announced. The patient is a close contact of the case reported in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, on Monday.

The man, surnamed Lan, aged 50, is a resident of Yingshang who has been working in a Shanghai-based company for a long time. Before returning to his residence in Yingshang, Lan was working at Pudong International Airport together with the Wang-surnamed patient in Shanghai, the authority said.

He had worn a face mask at his workplace and taken body temperature checks every time before entering.

Lan was transferred to a hospital for treatment early in the morning on Tuesday. Epidemiological investigations showed Lan returned to Yingshang County by bus from Chuansha of Pudong on November 5, and then took a van back to his residence in Yingshang.

The province has sent an expert team to Yingshang to carry out nucleic acid sampling, epidemiological investigations, and epidemic control in communities.

As of 11 am on Tuesday, 34 close contacts have been traced. 16 people of them have returned negative nucleic acid test results, and one is still waiting for their result. Another 17 close contacts, who are all in other places, have been informed to coordinate with the inspection.
