URUMQI, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) — Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reported five newly confirmed COVID-19 cases Monday, the regional health commission said Tuesday.
All of the patients were re-categorized from previously reported asymptomatic carriers.
Also on Monday, Xinjiang registered 13 new asymptomatic cases of COVID-19, all of whom were among people under isolated medical observation in Shufu County in south Xinjiang’s Kashgar Prefecture.
On Sunday, Kashgar started its third round of free nucleic acid tests on the region’s entire population, following two previous rounds that ended on Oct. 27 and 31.
As of Monday, Xinjiang had a total of 62 confirmed cases that were all in Shufu, and 231 asymptomatic cases that were in Shufu and the Akto County of the Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture of Kizilsu.
